New AutoPack HS+ doubles magazine capacity to 1,200 bags

AutoPack HS+

Manter introduces a new version of the AutoPack HS: the AutoPack HS+ with a quad bag magazine. The AutoPack HS is a fully automatic bagging machine for filling and closing pre-made net, jute, poly and paper bags. The machine is used for products including potatoes, onions, carrots and nuts and is suitable for bags from 5 to 50 kg. Servo technology enables fast and accurate bag positioning.

The standard AutoPack HS features a rotating carousel with two bag magazines. With the new quad magazine configuration, this is expanded to four magazines, each holding 300 bags. This doubles the total capacity from 600 to 1,200 bags. As a result, packaging lines can run autonomously for longer periods, while manual handling is further reduced.

The new quad magazine configuration was developed by engineer Gert-Jan in response to the growing demand for a higher level of autonomy in packaging lines. At speeds of up to 21 bags per minute with 10 and 25 kg bags, the AutoPack HS+ with the new configuration can operate for approximately one hour before the magazines need to be refilled.

Automatic changeover

In addition to increasing magazine capacity, several technical optimisations have been implemented. These improvements are aimed at further enhancing the machine’s speed, stability and reliability. Based on internal test results, a potential increase in hourly output of approximately 10% is currently expected. These results are still being further validated under full production conditions. The new HS+ configuration is particularly interesting for larger packing facilities where space is available and efficient use of labour, high machine uptime and long autonomous production runs are important.

Improved performance

When a magazine is empty, the pins are automatically lowered. The carousel then rotates 90 degrees, bringing the next full magazine into position. Once the magazine is correctly positioned, the bag singulation system can immediately resume production. For further automation, the AutoPack HS+ can optionally be equipped with an automated pin-lift system. This system automatically raises the pins, making it easier to refill the magazine. This eliminates a manual task for the operator and makes magazine refilling more efficient.

Operation and support

The AutoPack HS+ is equipped with Manter’s own control software. The machine can be easily operated and configured via the touchscreen. The software supports communication with Manter weighers and provides the ability to access machine data online, offering insights into machine performance and potential optimisations. In addition, the service team can remotely monitor the machine and make adjustments when necessary. The AutoPack HS+ can also be controlled via Line Control.

Watch the new video

The new quad magazine configuration can be seen in the latest AutoPack HS+ video. Gert-Jan, the engineer involved in its development, also demonstrates how the magazines are filled.

With the new quad magazine configuration, Manter takes another step towards further automating the packaging process. More magazine capacity, fewer manual operations and higher potential machine output make the AutoPack HS+ an even better fit for packaging lines where continuity and autonomy are key.
