Morada Produce Company in California, near San Francisco, has been a long-standing customer of Volm Companies and a user of Manter machinery. The company packages onions, cherries and bell peppers, among other products. For Onions, Morada has six complete packaging lines, equipped with a Manter MD14 XL weigher and a SemiPack or AutoPack on both sides.
Automation increases capacity
Recently, Morada added five Bag Placers to five SemiPack machines that were previously loaded with bags manually. This automates the bag feeding process, significantly increasing output while reducing the dependence on manual labour. The expansion is therefore an important step in further automating Morada’s packaging operations.
The complete facility in view
The recent installation was a great opportunity to capture footage of Morada’s production facility. Tom Kiss and Kyle Mattek from Volm, sales representatives for Morada, coordinated everything with the customer and provided us with the footage. We greatly appreciate his efforts and the opportunity to showcase the complete line and the new installation in operation
From packaging to palletizing
The video shows 25 kg portions being dropped into mesh bags and held in place by the AutoPack. Once filled, the bags are transported to an industrial sewing machine, where they are securely closed. A singulation belt then combines the output from two packaging machines and feeds the bags towards a single palletizer. The palletizer builds the bags into a stable stack, ready for transport.
