In 2022, Manter successfully delivered and installed a complete packaging line for charcoal at JMPL & SAN in Portugal. As one of the first ventures into the charcoal industry, the project required several modifications to standard equipment to accommodate the unique challenges of handling this abrasive product. Thanks to excellent collaboration with Felipe Lopes of JMPL & SAN, the installation now operates smoothly and efficiently.
Now in 2025 with multiple charcoal packaging lines now installed, Manter has established itself as a trusted expert in providing complete solutions for weighing, packaging, and palletizing in the charcoal industry.
JMPL & SAN
JMPL & SAN supplies premium charcoal to restaurants and retail outlets. Their high-quality charcoal originates primarily from Cuba, where it is produced and shipped to their modern facility in Portugal for packaging. For consumers, the charcoal is packed in 3kg and 5kg paper bags, while restaurants receive it in larger 13kg to 15kg PP woven bags. To streamline operations and meet their packaging needs, JMPL & SAN opted for a fully integrated solution delivered by a single supplier.

- Solidtec palletizer ST30 with Wrapper
The abrasive nature of charcoal posed unique challenges, requiring adjustments to the standard setup. However, through close cooperation with the customer, these challenges were successfully overcome, resulting in a highly efficient and reliable operation.
